What I Inherited and What I Gave My Children
I spent much of my childhood wondering whether I was Chinese, Taiwanese, or neither. Now, after nearly twenty years in America, I'm raising two children who have never had to question where they belong. Their uncomplicated sense of identity has made me look back my own complicated history—and wonder if identity is really something we have to untangle.
